Wealth Re-Distribution concealed as Carbon-Tax

March 1, 2011

As many of us know Australia’s first female Prime Minister, Julia (or should that be Juliar?) has decided to implement a Carbon Tax on Australian society. A tax that she vehemently said she wouldn’t implement at the last Federal Election, yet has made a back-flip on those comments and decided to bring it in regardless…..  a tax that is very unpopular amongst the Australian public going by recent news-polls and only 1 sitting Minster of Parliament actually went into the last election campaigning for it…..Greens member Adam Brandt, who else?

So why the about face all of a sudden?

Heres a quote from Labour Powerbroker Graham Richardson-

The reason for the about-face is simple. Gillard thought she would win the election and to be fair to her, she thought it would be a few years before the big polluters (US, India, China) took real action so she had the luxury of being able to wait…. The harsh reality for Gillard was that to form a government she had to get the Greens and a majority of the lower house independents to go with her. She negotiated well but when you are dealing with a whole bunch of people who like the idea of a carbon tax, you finish up making a promise to them to introduce one, and this is one promise you can’t break or you are back at the polls in a flash.

The bottom line is….after Julia managed to shaft Rudd from behind with the support of proven CIA-informant Mark Arbib amongst others, they thought they were a sure winner at the next federal Election with running with an ex-commie female leader.  Julia also managed to shaft her labour supporters at the election by announcing after the end of polling that Labour preferences would be going to the Greens and vice versa.  Labour was happy accepting the Green vote to get in power but they didn’t gamble on the election being that close that it came down to 1 Green member and a couple independents….So now “Ju-liar” is getting taken from behind by the 1 single Greens member in parliament and to avoid another election she must “take it all” ! Like it or not.

So what will this Carbon Tax do?  Economic suicide……….

Quoted by Henry Ergus in The Australian –

Indeed, in terms of Australia’s national interest, it is difficult to think of a policy more harmful than such a unilateral tax.

This is because a high share of Australia’s emissions is accounted for by export-oriented activities: some 33 per cent, compared with 8 per cent for the US. These activities include mining, where large fugitive emissions occur as resources are extracted. Given the ready availability of alternative sources of supply, including Canada, the US and Brazil, a unilateral tax on these exports cannot cut global emissions: it merely alters their location. But it would reduce Australian incomes…

So not only did they implement a resources tax they are going to throw another Carbon Tax on top of it? Who will want to remain mining in Australia?  What about average citizen on the street?  Well….if we are to spend 100 dollars on something, then throw for arguments sake a 10% Carbon Tax, we will then be taxed GST on top of the 110 dollars rather than the original 100……which means even more profit to the government, as if we aren’t one of the highest taxed societies in the world already and a much higher cost of living.

But as Julia states, her government will bring in concessions for lower-income earners to offset the pain of Carbon Tax implementation.

The Age quoted -

LABOR is preparing a multibillion-dollar carbon tax compensation package that could leave up to 2.6 million low-income households better off and a further 1.7 million middle-income households no worse off…

A government source said it was likely the impact of the new tax – and the level of compensation – would be roughly similar

So what does that mean?   Those middle income earners will remain where they are and this Carbon Tax plus the Compensation Package will benefit low income earners?  Does this not sound like a cover for a Communist Style Wealth Re-Distribution Scheme amongst the populace?  It is being sold as benefiting the lower classes, but do they realise the money has to come from somewhere – i.e. other Australians taxes, mainly the higher income earners.

Further proof of this and the folly of their policy is the governments comments that they will reduce the excise on petrol with the implementation of a Carbon Tax  on a 1cent per 1 cent basis….so for each cent the Carbon Tax increases the price of petrol they will offset it by the same amount – WTF?  Wasn’t the whole point of this tax to increase the cost of fuel to force consumers to change to alternative energy vehicles?  This wont do it.  And it just firms up my belief that this is a major scam to implement a redistribution of wealth amongst Australians, whether you like it or not.

Kevin Rudd tried to implement this by scaring the populace but ended up getting shafted, now Julia is forcing this through whether you like it or not. Whether you believe in  man-made Climate Change (what the hell happened to Global Warming?), and despite all the ice core sample data that shows the Earth has been hotter in the past than we currently are many times before…….WTF Julia?

Whats so offensive about a bit of wealth distribution? Even if we are defining ‘wealth’ within extremely narrow financial parameters, but what will lower income earners do with the sure to be meagre compensation? Invest it overseas? Import luxury goods? Stash it in offshore tax havens? All they will do, can do within their limited spending possibilities, is throw it around locally, keeping the wheels of the local economy oiled. Thats why governments provide welfare, it keeps the cash flowing around. Some wealth redistribution is healthy for a country, it ensures the canals of the economy are fresh and dont stagnate too much down in the lower realms, leading to poverty, crime and general fucking misery for everyone (including by any economic measure).

Ok so why should wealth be ‘redistributed’ to the victims of the floods, fires and cyclones? WTF? They live in a flood zone, thats just unlucky isnt it, or a town burns to the ground, tragic, but why should any wealth be redistributed to them? Ofcourse thats an absolutely insane position to take. Obviously some tax revenue (the public/common wealth) should be redistributed to them. Like wealth gets redistributed to provide healthcare, build stuff, support public services like police etc. Thats what a social democracy does. Thats how its been built over the years, and it is successful.

And as for a carbon tax, cmon, these industries whinging about the loss of revenue to competition in Brazil etc. Or having to close mines and cut jobs, blah blah. Fucking please, the stuff is under the Australian earth, its not going anywhere, someone will ALWAYS want to buy it for whatever price. These companies have made billions from Australias fluke of luck of having natural resources and they wont close anything and they’ll still make their fortunes, but at the same time space can be given to the development of new ways of fueling the countries energy needs. Its so obviously a good thing for Australia in the long term, its a fucking no-brainer mate!

What is so offensive about wealth re-distribution in my opinion is if you have busted your balls to work hard and getsomewhere then you will be penalsied by a tax to bring you back so that you are on the same level as those who do not wish to work hard that are going to be propped up by this corrupt system. Creating a communist style level playing field is not a fair system. The incentive to work hard and get somewhere will be totally diminished….what next? A standard rate of pay for everyone regardless of proffession?

And regarding the Carbon Tax, there are two issue with this…the first being the Tax itself, the second being the MASSIVE LIE that Gillard spun prior to the election promising not to implement it and then implementing it anyway WITH NO MANDATE TO DO SO BY THE AUSTRALIAN PUBLIC. Only 1 Greens member went to the last election campaigning for the Carbon Tax, and now Bob Brown has Gillard like a puppet in his hands manipulating her every move and policy decision which she must comply with for fear of loosing support and her government. What fucken good is a government if it has no balls to stand up for its own policies but is there to appease an extreme minority.

Today I heard reports that Bob Brown made a written agreement with Julia to consult with her once a week on policy and political matters – some sitting labour members dont even get that privelage.

Also in todays news is the fact that the 10% of the Carbon Tax raised will go to the UN….WTF? Carbon is good for the environment…enough of this scare mongering and one can only hope the Governor general grows some balls and puts the ultimate to Gillard to take the carbon Tax to a new election and seek a mandate from the Australian Public or be sacked like Whitlam in the nations best interest!

Depends on your definition of wealthy. If it’s redistributing a bit of wealth from the Gina Rinehart’s, Twiggy Forrests’, Frank Lowy’s, Jamie Pakers and their ilk i have no problem. Easier said than done though. They have the power and legal help to fight any such plan so the bulk if any planned redistribution you fawn over H in your Utopian Society wet dream ends up coming from people making 50-150k. The ones who bust their arses raising kids, paying their own way and never getting a hand out for anything. Rich enough not to be a drag on society but too poor to have the power to protect themselves from big government and the ATO. If you wanna pay more thats your perogative. Donate til your destitute if it makes you feel better. Doyle’s having a meltdown opening his wallet to buy a few bits of furniture for his flat. There’s a moth plague in western Sydney. God help him if he ever had kids and a stay at home mum to support. I pay enough tax already and paying to breath out CO2 offends me. China plans emissions increases of 496% over the next 5 years so if you believe your carbon taxes will save the world your deluded. How can the tax get generators to switch to cleaner technology that doesn’t exist? KRudd often spoke of ‘clean coal’ technology. Great theory but thats all it is a bloody theory. Any immediate cost/tax increases the generators incur will just be passed onto consumers because they have no alternative. On a side note 10 years ago we were told Tuvalu was rapidly sinkng due to sea level rise. Last time i looked its still there and still inhabited and the sea level is the same as it was in 2001. While Tony Abbott and i don’t dispute the climate is changing i have seen no evidence to prove its caused by CO2. If you have such scietific proof please post it on the Faux.

Here is a link to a chart detailing Ice Core tempriture records from lake Vostok in Antartica going back 415,000 years –

What it shows is a couple things –

    1) That the current inter glacial warming period that has been going on for the past 10,000 years or so since the end of the last ice age is responsible for the growth of human civilisation and the evolution of mankind in that time.

    2) In terms of inter glacial warmings periods, our time is almost up and due for another dip into a long ice age.

    3) The earth was actually warmer in prehistoric times than it is now…..lucky Julia wasn’t around then to Carbon Tax the dinosaurs!

    4) Proves that the earth’s climate works in cycles and warming in not a bad thing regardless of whether its natural or man made…..enjoy it before the next big freeze takes over.

Henninton: I am with Max’s coments, why don’t you move to China, North Korea or Cuba if you love wealth re-distribution so much?
I am tired of being taxed to death to support a bunch of dole blodgers.

Hey Guys I can see where you are both coming from and what you are both saying is to some degree is where our society has evolved to today. A capalist system that rewards people that educate themselves, work hard, give up many pleasures to get ahead and when you get there it pisses you off to hear the bleating from the people who fucked around skylarking at school, never got a trade or profession, spent most of their money on piss, drugs, gambling ( I said most because we all waste some money on something ) and then go on about being downtrodden and not receiving a fair go. We have a welfare system and a damned good one but it should only be a safety net for those less fortunate than ourselves either from birth or accident but should not be a lifestyle choice for those too lazy or irresponsible to look after themselves. It’s about balance between reward and compassion and the swinging pendulum between these two is what seems to cause most aingst.
